William H. “Bill” Brown, 90

William H. “Bill” Brown, 90, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2016 surrounded by his family.  He was born August 28, 1926 in El Dorado, Kansas, moving to Middleburg in 1998. 

He is predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Jane Lois Brown.  He is survived by his two sons, William H. Brown, Jr. (Melinda), Richard John Brown; daughter, Kristi Jane Husted (Bruce); four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. 

He was a member of Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church since 1998.  He was well known as “The Cross Man” as he made many white crosses displayed all across the county.  He also founded a successful charity golf tournament 14 years ago.  Mr. Brown was an avid golfer and especially loved playing at Orange Park Country Club and The Golf Club of Fleming Island.  He enjoyed the company of his dog, Jack. 

Bill proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was a World War II veteran.  He was honorably discharged in 1947. 

Funeral services will be held 10am Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church (6551 Argyle Forest Boulevard. Jacksonville, Florida 32244) with Pastor Jonathan Kuske officiating.  Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at 9am at the church.  Burial with US Navy Honors will follow at Russell Haven of Rest Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial gifts be made to Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church Members in Need fund.
