William “Bill” Mills, 75

William “Bill” Mills, passed away Friday morning, January 5, 2018. Mr. Mills was born in Cross City, FL on July 3, 1942. When he was 17 years old he joined the US Army and served for 3 years. After 3 years in the Army, he joined the US Navy and served for 17 years. After 20 years of active duty he retired from the military and pursued other adventures before returning to work for the Navy in the civil service for another 23 years. During his career in the Armed Forces, he served as a Missile Parts Specialist, a member of Training Squadron ONE, followed by an overseas tour in Rota, Spain with VQ-2.  He also served in the Armed Forces Police in Washington D.C., as well as a Jet Engine Mechanic at Naval Air Station Adak, Alaska. He finished his career at NAS Jacksonville, FL with Patrol Squadron THIRTY. He loved the smell of fuel and the sound of jet noise. After his second retirement he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially his wife, his children and 5 granddaughters. Mr. Mills loved children, telling corny jokes, playing pinochle with long time friends, reading, and even gardening. Over the past few years he enjoyed giving away special rocks and telling people about Jesus. He was an active member of Reverb Church and faithfully served on the Guest Experience team shaking hands and giving fist bumps to everyone he met with a smile. Mr. Mills is survived by his wife of 44 years, Susan Elaine Mills, son Paul (Mindy) Mills, daughter, Stephanie Mills, son Billy (Isabel) Mills, 5 granddaughters, Katie, Natalie, Lydia, Lia, and Lily, his brother Albert and his sister Valley. Mr. Mills was greatly loved and will be dearly missed.

A Memorial Services will be held at Russell Haven of Rest at 11:00 am on Monday, January 8, 2018. Visitation with the family will be at 10:00 am. In Lieu of flowers, Mrs. Mills would like donations to be made to their church capital fund to help build a future home for Reverb Church. Donations can be made at www.reverb.church/give/
