Sara Lynn Garrett, 45

Sara Lynn Garrett went home in the early hours of October 26, 2025, after a courageous battle with numerous medical challenges over the past year. She fought hard to live and never gave up, showing strength and determination to the very end.

Sara had a lifelong love for dolphins and enjoyed fishing, frogs, and playing bingo. She worked as a cafeteria assistant at Clay High School, where she was known for her warmth and kindness. She adored her beloved fur baby, Spanky, and was an avid fan of NASCAR driver Mark Martin, as well as a lover of riding Harley motorcycles.

She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Lonnie Thompson; grandparents, Virginia and William Garrett; James and Phyllis Cramer; uncle, James Cramer; uncles, Earl, Ted, and Harold Cramer; uncle, Wyman “Pike” Douglas; aunts, Maxine Douglas, Betty Partridge, and Betty Meads; and cousins, Robert Mead, James Mead, and Anita Brayman.

Sara is survived by her husband, Jeff Thompson; her loving parents, Linda and Carter Garrett; her mother-in-law, Debbie Thompson; two stepchildren, Jeff Jr including his three grandchildren and Erin (Chris) Pierrie; She is also survived by her brother, Rodney (Teresa) Garrett; sisters, Rhonda (Lawrence) Blonton and Sandra; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of dear friends.

Sara will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A viewing will be held on Thursday evening, October 30, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Russell Haven of Rest Chapel, with a memorial service scheduled for the following morning at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 31, 2025.
