Samuel Ray Wright, Jr., 43, of Green Cove Springs, FL passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2024.  Sammy was born in Jacksonville, FL to Samuel Ray Wright, Sr. and Brenda Perry Wright.  He spent most of his life in Clay County and graduated from Clay High School in 1999.  Growing up on a local dairy farm, Wisteria Gardens Dairy, led Sammy to begin working at a young age where he raised calves with his Pawpaw and operated a silage bagging business.  His charismatic personality and warm smile helped him be successful during his sales careers with Farm Bureau, Dignity Memorial, and car dealerships in the area.  Sammy also worked as a mechanic at Ronnie Robinson and enjoyed his time there with people he considered family.  He could also be found at Retro Fitness in Fleming Island, greeting people as they came in for a workout at the gym.  His favorite job of all was being a daddy.  His children were the joy of his life & he would brag on them to anyone who would listen.

As the firstborn grandchild on the Perry side of the family, Sammy was spoiled rotten from day one.  His natural charm and ability to make everyone laugh with his storytelling helped balance out his orneriness and desire to push the limits on life.  Sammy was very giving and would help anyone who needed it whether it was a few dollars or something repaired.  He loved all people and always had a bright smile and a gleam in his eyes.

Sammy was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Ray Wright, Sr.; and his grandparents, Lewis and Rena Perry, S.A. Wright, Jr. and Charlotte Wright Wheeler.  He is survived by his mother, Brenda Wright; son, Lewis Wright; daughters, Kelsey Wright and Eleanor Wright; sisters, Laura Cline (Danny), Kristen Bavar (Michael), Amy Farley (Josh), and Amanda Haynes (Ryan); as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members and friends.  Sammy will be missed by too many to count.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, February 8, 2024 at 10:30am at River Christian Church, 5900 Hwy 17, Fleming Island, FL 32003.  Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to services at 9:30am.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made in Sammy’s memory to https://www.stjude.org/donate/.
