Ruby Lee Burke, 86

Ruby Lee Burke, 86, of Green Cove Springs, Florida, passed away on December 13, 2025.

Ruby was born in Greenville, South Carolina, to Lee and Ida Ragsdale. In 1960, she moved to Green Cove Springs with her husband, Frank, where they built a loving home and raised their eight children. Ruby was known throughout her family and circle of friends for her wonderful cooking and baking, a talent she joyfully shared with those she loved. She also had a fondness for shopping—especially through the Home Shopping Network—and never missed her favorite soap opera, Days of Our Lives.

Ruby faithfully served her community as a crossing guard with the City of Green Cove Springs Police Department for more than 25 years. Her dedication made her a familiar and comforting presence for generations of local families who depended on her friendly smile each morning and afternoon.

While able, Ruby and Frank were devoted members of Russell Baptist Church, where they attended and served for over 15 years. Together, they also enjoyed camping in the mountains and traveling. Above all else, Ruby cherished her family, who were the center of her life.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Lee Ragsdale and Ida Alexander Ragsdale; her son, Frank D. Burke Jr.; her daughter, Deborah Lee Burke McCall; and her sisters, Sue Ragsdale, Patricia Ragsdale, and Ann Ragsdale.

She is survived by her loving husband, Frank Donald Burke; sons, David Burke (Laurie), Harold Burke (Kristen), and Alfred Dean Burke; daughters, Rebecca “Becky” Kelly (Derrell), Loretta Miller (Chris), and Patricia Link (Ted); brother, Harry Ragsdale; sister, Alice Grant; 17 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 10:00AM on Thursday, December 18, 2025 in the Heritage Section of Russell Haven of Rest Cemetery. (2335 Sandridge Road, Green Cove Springs, FL 32043)
