Ronald D. Thompson, 60

Ronald D. Thompson, 60, of Middleburg, FL passed away Monday, July 3, 2017.  Ronald was a native of Jacksonville, Florida and moved to Middleburg in 1972.  One of Ronald’s great loves was country music, especially Hank Williams since he grew up listening to his parents’ favorite music.  He enjoyed listening to live bands since his father was a talented guitarist.  He liked watching old western movies, especially old John Wayne movies with his dad.  He loved the Florida Gators is was considered a “lucky charm” by his family when it came to wearing his Gator shirt.  Every time he wore the shirt the Gators would win.  He collected M&M’s memorabilia and also had a collection of elephants of all kinds.

Ronald is preceded in death by his father, Lonnie Thompson, Sr.  Survivors include his loving mother, Clara Thompson; brother, Lonnie Thompson, Jr. (Debbie); sisters, Pam McGurer (Frank), Tina Cook (Jon) and Sylvia Westberry (Fred); 7 nieces and nephews including his dear niece, Liz who was a caregiver for him.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00pm Friday, July 7, 2017 in the chapel of Russell Haven of Rest.  Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Ronald’s memory to the Shriners, https://www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org/donate.
