Robert (Bob, Lindy) Edward Lindenschmidt, 95

Robert (Bob, Lindy) Edward Lindenschmidt, age 95, a former resident of Evansville, IN for 88 years, went home to be with the Lord on July 14, 2019 in Fleming Island, FL after celebrating a wonderful 95 birthday with his family. Bob was born on June 29, 1924 in Evansville, IN to Edward Henry and Mae (Duncan) Lindenschmidt. Growing up, he was a member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church where as a 14 year old at his Christian Endeavor Class, he accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. As a young boy he loved reading and made many bicycle trips to Willard Library. In Industrial Arts Class, Bob discovered his vocation as a draftsman and engineer. He graduated from Central High School in 1942 and attended University of Evansville.

Bob was married to his high school sweetheart, Estelle Greenfield, for 66 years. He worked for Republic Aviation, International Harvester and Whirlpool in the product engineering department (refrigerators) and had several patents. Bob retired in 1984 after working for Whirlpool for 29 years.
He also served in the Army. Bob ventured out in 1949 along with good friend, Dick Mills, to open Colonial Gardens Dance Club featuring Frankie Laine and other Big Band music.

Bob and his wife, Estelle, loved to travel. Their annual fall trip was to NYC for plays, horse racing at Belmont Park and on to Vermont for the foliage. Bob’s favorite trip in 1988 was to China and Russia with his son, Larry Lindenschmidt, a dentist in Del Rio, TX. In 2013, Bob moved to Fleming Island, FL to be near his daughter, Debbie and son-in-law Fred, grandchildren and great grands. While in independent living at Allegro Retirement Home, he met a lovely lady named Alice Benton. They were faithful companions for 6 years. Bob finished his course with joy, well-loved and a life well-lived.

Bob is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Estelle, his son Larry,
daughter-in-law Sylvia, his mother and father Ed and Mae Lindenschmidt, his brother Jack and sister-in-law Jean, and dear companion Alice Benton.

Bob is survived by his daughter Debbie (Fred) Meiners FL, 4 grandchildren; Missy (Hector) Villescas TX, Jason (Katie) Lindenschmidt TX, Michael (Kara) Meiners FL, Seth (Kristen) Meiners FL, 8 great grandchildren; Ryan and Alex Villescas TX, Luke, Bennett, Brooklyn, Hudson and Emery Meiners FL and nieces, Lisa (Dan) Wiesjahn IN and Leigh Ambrosio FL.

Boone Funeral Home will be handling arrangements for a graveside service in Evansville, IN on Saturday, July 20 at 11:30 am at Locust Hill Cemetery. All are welcome. A Memorial Service will also be held at Allegro Retirement Home in Fleming Island, FL on Saturday, July 27 at 2:00 pm.
