Richard Clayton Williams, Sr., 86

Richard Clayton Williams, Sr., 86 passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2016, from an extended illness. He was born March 6, 1930, in Jacksonville, Florida and he was a long time resident of Jacksonville.

He is predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Lois Roberta (Wingrove) Williams, his brother David Williams and his parents, Francis Howard Williams and Lillian Eugenia (Bardin) Williams.

He is survived by his three sons, Richard C. (Sharon) Williams, Jr., Robbie (Michelle) Williams and Randy (Margaret) Williams, Teresa Leuck Williams, six grandchildren and two great granddaughters.

His tenure in the United States Military included, two years in the U.S. Navy, joining the Air Force on 11/18/1947, when it broke away from the Army Air Corps with military qualification of Carbine M1 Sharpshooter. He spent a total of forty-two years in active duty and reserves.  He retired March 1990 as a Chief Master Sergeant.  He was awarded many ribbons and awards, which included the Meritorious Service Medal 4 oak leaf cluster.  He graduated from Andrew Jackson High School and attended Jacksonville University where he graduated on May 31, 1957 with honors.

He enjoyed traveling, fishing, gardening and taking caring of animals.

Graveside services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, November 21, 2016 at Jacksonville National Cemetery with US Air Force Honors, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218.
