Paulene Angeline “Polly” Vincent, 85
Paulene Angeline “Polly” Vincent, 85, of Orange Park, FL, passed away Saturday, August 1, 2026. Polly was born at home in Mapleton, Maine to the late Sylvester Byron and Florence Craig Rideout. She grew up in East Newport, Maine. She was a 1959 graduate of Newport High School, Maine, where she sang in the choir, was in the school musical, and was on the basketball team. She worked as a waitress at the Polka Dot Diner in Bangor, until her marriage to Richard Bruce Vincent on June 2, 1962. After that, they lived in Maine, West Virginia, and New Jersey, before moving to Orange Park in 1981 from Belvidere, New Jersey.
Mrs. Vincent was active in the Belvidere Women’s Club and the Orange Park Garden Club’s Hummingbird Circle. She sang in church choirs for almost her whole life. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and fine arts such as ballet, opera and the symphony. She also loved researching and documenting her family’s genealogy. Polly worked for many years as a poll worker in Clay County, something she was very proud of. Additionally, she was very handy and enjoyed needlework and crafts. She was an avid fitness buff and regularly walked and swam. Polly also kept in touch with family members around the country.
Mrs. Vincent was preceded in death by her husband Richard Vincent in 2003 and her sister Phyllis Rideout in 2024. She is survived by her son Greg Vincent, daughter Pam (Walter) Hoskins, sisters Sharon (Richard) Doebler, Sherrill (Bill) Betterini, and Kay Hunt, grandchildren Landon, Lydia, Blake, Rebecca, and Katie, and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
She was a devoted follower of Christ and attended Orange Park Presbyterian Church for many years.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Grace Church of Avondale, with Pastor Roger Stark officiating. There will be a reception following at the church.
Memorial gifts to Gentiva Hospice are welcome, as well as flowers.
