Pamela Jo “Pam” Fields, 78

Pamela Jo “Pam” Fields, 78, of Orange Park, Florida, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2026.  Pam was born in Jacksonville, Florida, to the late Earl and Doris (Gaffney) Carter.  She was a 1966 graduate of Paxon High School and moved to Orange Park in 1985.  She worked for the Clay County School Board for over 20 years, retiring in 2015.

After retirement, Pam volunteered with Haven Hospice where she received the “Care Center Volunteer of the Year” award in 2017.  She also volunteered as a poll worker for various elections in Clay County.   Pam was an avid reader who passed down her love of books and reading to her children and grandchildren.

Pam enjoyed travelling, especially to tailgate and cheer on her beloved Florida State Seminoles, and spending holidays with her extended family.  She loved music and had the opportunity to see several of her favorites over the years, including The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Elton John, Rod Stewart, Lynyrd Skinner, Bob Seger, Bruce Springsteen, Jackson Browne and Bob Dylan.  Pam also took great joy in being part of the River Christian Church community and was an active member in their life groups.

Pam is survived by her husband, Bert Fields, children, Kyle Fields and Kara (Jonathan) Menendez, and her grandchildren, Susan, William, George and Alex, as well as numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and a handful of dear friends.  She is preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws, James and Virginia Fields, and her sister-in-law, Verna (Novak) Fields.

The family wishes to extend their deep gratitude to Haven Hospice for their incredible care of Pam in her final days. The kindness and professionalism of their nurses and staff were a source of great comfort to the family.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 22, 2026, at 11:00am at River Christian Church (5900 US 17, Fleming Island, Florida) with a reception to follow.  A public burial will take place at Riverside Memorial Park (7242 Normandy Boulevard, Jacksonville, Florida) at 3:00pm.
