MSG Ernest (Ernie) Brown, USMC (Ret.), 80

Ernest (Ernie) Brown, 80, Master Sergeant of U. S Marines (Ret) passed away September 15th.  He was born in Independence, Missouri to Ernest Sr. and Gladys Brown July 10, 1937.  Shortly after moved to Kansas City, Kansas where he graduated from Washington High School in 1955 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps the same year. Twenty two years later and having deployed three times to Vietnam, retired from active duty.  He maintains his love for the Corps and fellow Marines and became a life member of the Marine Corps League. He served two consecutive years as Commandant of the General Roy S .Geiger Detachment in Clay County Florida.  He is a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2855 and the American Legion Post 250 in Middleburg, Florida.  Ernie attended Miami-Dade Community College where he earned an Associate degree in Criminal Justice. He transferred to Missouri and earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Safety/Security from Central Missouri State University.  He quickly employed with an international insurance company for the next 19 years.

He was predeceased by parents, daughter Laura Gilman, Sister Delores Schlup, and Brother John.  Ernie is survived by his devoted loving wife Marga, son Marine Colonel Michael Brown (Sharon), daughter Marcia (NC), sisters Shirley Denton (Richard), Jeanette Noble (Bud), step daughters Diana Vaught (Chad) and Michelle Jeralds (Jason), and grandchildren Jase, Hannah, Nicholas, Kirsti, Kyle, and Tanner.

Memorial Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, September 30, 2017 in the Chapel of Russell Haven of Rest Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Thomas officiating.  Military Honors will be on the Eastlawn by the USMC Honor Guard.
