Michael Jay Dowell, 66

Michael Jay Dowell, 66 of Fleming Island, FL passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2025.  Michael was born in San Diego, CA to the late Jay Charles and Suzanne Adeliade Dowell.  His father was a career Navy veteran which allowed Michael to live throughout the world to include tours in California, Germany, Japan, Panama, Chesapeake, VA, and Wahiawa Oahu.

Michael moved to Florida at the age of 18 and was a licensed framer/owner of Level-It Framing in Hernando County, Florida for 30 years.  In 2020, he retired as a Trades Worker from Pasco-Hernando State College and moved to Clay County to be closer to his sons.  Michael enjoyed fishing, camping (especially at the State Parks), and going on cruises.

Mr. Dowell was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Dion Dowell in 2002 and his son, Sean Casey Dowell.  He is survived by his wife, Michele E. Miller, son, Mathew M Dowell, sister, Monica (Trent) Spanos, sister, Jenifer Simon, stepson, Larry K. (Amy) Miller, Jr., grandchildren, Sydney Miller, Collin Dowell, Alaina Miller, and Mia Dowell.

A Celebration of Life for Mr. Dowell will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, July 17, 2025 in the Chapel of Russell Haven of Rest with Chaplain Billy Beckett officiating.  A time of visitation will begin at 10:00 AM prior to services on Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to:  Haven Hospice or Sarah Cannon Research Institute
