Michael Eugene Wyatt, 74

Michael Eugene Wyatt 74, of Fleming Island, FL went to be with his Lord on September 17, He was born June 21, 1952 to the late Robert Howard and Delilah Jean Wyatt of Corbin, Kentucky.

He graduated from Whitley County High School in 1970. During high school, he earned varsity letters all four years in Football, Basketball, and Baseball. After receiving and declining two Football scholarships, he chose to enlist in the United States Marine Corps. In 1971 he attended boot camp at Parris Island, South Carolina, and was later stationed at Camp Lejeune North Carolina, where he served from 1971 to 1973.

Following his military service, Mike began his railroad career as a Locomotive Engineer at L&N. He moved his family from Corbin, KY to Florida in 1995, where he later retired from CSX after 30 years of service. Mike was raised in church with his Father a Pastor and his mother the pianist. He accepted Jesus as his Savior at and early age and continued in that love throughout his life. He was a member of Hibernia Baptist Church for many years and especially enjoyed his Sunday Moring Bible Class with his friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife and high school sweetheart, Sharon, to whom he was married for 54 years; His son Michael Paul Wyatt, wife Nicole, and daughter, Lori Lynn Fox, husband Marcus. He also leaves behind one of the greatest joys of his life, 3 beautiful grandchildren. Michael Vaughan Wyatt, wife Claire, Sarah Lynn Fox and Emma June Fox. One sister, Carla Schwarte, husband Mark, one brother Kent Howard Wyatt, wife Debbie, a host of nieces and nephews and friends who mourn his passing.

Outside of his career, Mike enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved being at home and was always working on a new project around the house. Golfing was his favorite sport along with boating or just fishing from the dock. He especially loved his KY Wildcats and “Mighty, Mighty Jaguars”.

His true happy place was at home with his family, holding a hot cup of coffee and offering his advice. Mike and Sharon shared a remarkable love story. He loved his bride with every part of his being and telling everyone “I got the girl!” He spent his life sharing his love and wisdom with his family. His legacy of love and kindness will always live in his children and grandchildren. Most of all his kindness. He was a friend to everyone who knew him; he never met a stranger.

Funeral Services will be11:00 AM Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at Hibernia Baptist Church with Pastor Scott Yirka officiating.  Burial will follow at Jacksonville National Cemetery at 2:00 pm.  Visitation with the family will begin at 10:30 AM prior to services.
