Mary Ruth “Ross” Boyd, age 86, of Middleburg, Florida, peacefully went to be with the Lord on May 25, 2025. Born on March 28, 1939, in Waycross, Georgia, she was the youngest of five children, all of whom preceded her in death.
Ruth moved to Jacksonville, Florida, after marrying the love of her life, Billy D. Boyd, in 1957. The couple shared a deep and enduring love, and it brings comfort to know that Ruth passed just in time to celebrate their 68th heavenly anniversary together on June 2. Billy and their eldest son, Mark Stephen Boyd, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her children: Gregory Scott Boyd; Daniel Craig Boyd (Debbie) and Lisa Fay Boyd (Micheal) Ruth was a beloved grandmother to eight grandchildren—Telisha, Micah, Amanda (Kenny), Brittany, Dennis (Tiffany), Megan (Craig), Austin (Lauren), and Taylor—and a proud great-grandmother to thirteen.
Ruth devoted much of her life to teaching and service. She worked in the Duval County school system as a teacher and later taught upholstery at the college level. After retiring she ran a pool cleaning business alongside her family.
A woman of deep faith and strength, Ruth was a longtime churchgoer and a strong-willed Christian who often declared she was “packed up, prayed up and ready to go up.” Her unwavering belief in God and her enduring love for her family defined her life.
Ruth will be remembered for her resilience, stubbornness and unshakeable faith. Her legacy of love and devotion lives on in her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who knew her.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at the Russell Haven of Rest Funeral Home.
Burial to follow immediately following the service, in the Russell Haven of Rest Cemetery.
A time of visitation with the family will be on Friday, May 30, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to Haven Hospice.
