Mark Stanley Chambers, 87

Mark Stanley Chambers, 87, of Middleburg, FL passed away Friday, July 24, 2026.  Mark was born in Chickasaw, AL to the late George Chambers and Dorothy Phillips Chambers and moved to northeast Florida as a child.  Mark was a dedicated employee at Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department where he retired as a captain after a 30-year career.  He earned the nickname “Little General” as co-workers always knew where they stood with him.  After retirement, he started his own business in oil spill recovery and worked closely with BP Oil until he fully retired in 2015.

Mark was an avid golfer up until the last few years and was a devoted Alabama Crimson Tide football fan.  He was most proud of his family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  A man of great faith, Mark also loved his church, Eleven22.  If you got him started talking about food, you were bound to hear about the world-famous ribs at Tuscaloosa’s Dreamland BBQ, fried chicken or Aliea’s apple pie.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sons, Mark Chambers, Jr. and David Chambers; and four brothers, George Chambers, Donald Chambers, John Chambers, and Raymond Chambers.  He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, “His Jenny”, Jenny Chambers; three sons, Robert Chambers (Victoria), Rob Veon (Aliea) and Troy Veon (Cheryl); one sister, Gloria Agles; one sister-in-law, Veeda Chambers; eight grandchildren who call him “Little Papa”, Tyler Veon, Caitlin Williams (WH), Cody Veon (Anna), Ashey Veon, R. Grant Veon, Layton Veon (Sydney Martin), Levi Brooklyn Veon, and Christine Sunshine Chambers; as well as five great-grandchildren, Willy Williams, Junie Williams, Sunnie Williams, Roxie Williams, and Scotty Veon.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 1, 2026 at 10am at the Church of Eleven22’s Fleming Island Campus, 4459 US-17, Fleming Island, FL 32003.
