Manuel Antonio Perez

May 27, 1955 – March 28, 2024

Manuel Antonio Perez, aged 68, passed away on March 28, 2024. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend whose presence will be greatly missed by those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, on May 27, 1955, Manuel’s life journey took him from Puerto Rico to Chicago, Illinois, and eventually to Somerset, New Jersey, where he pursued his education and met his beloved wife, Nancy Perez, in 1978. In 1985, he discovered and acquired a picturesque parcel of land in Hardwick, New Jersey, where he built a home and raised his three children. In 2020, seeking a peaceful retirement together, Manny and Nancy settled in Fleming Island, Florida.

Flying started out as a hobby for Manny before evolving into his chosen profession. His aviation journey began on September 21, 1974, when he flew a Cessna-150 from Princeton Airport in New Jersey. This inaugural flight ignited a passion that lasted nearly 50 years. Throughout his illustrious career, Manny amassed over 18,000 flight hours across 21 different aircraft. As a Professional Pilot, he transported many esteemed individuals, including celebrities, rock stars, two former presidents, royalty, and prominent business figures from around the world.

A Renaissance man, Manny’s interests extended far beyond aviation. As a lifelong car enthusiast, Manny loved fixing, tinkering, building, driving, and talking about cars. He extended those skills to carpentry, residential electrical, drafting and architectural design to build the Hardwick House. He was a lover of music and skilled in playing guitars across various genres. He enjoyed sailing, drawing, painting, and mastering remote-controlled planes and boats. Late in life he focused on drone-based videography using it for family ceremonies. Moreover, his extensive travels broadened his appreciation for diverse cultures, enhancing both his own and his family’s lives.

Manny is survived by his cherished wife, Nancy Perez, with whom he built a family brimming with love and cherished memories. His children Miguel Perez, Sophia Sakelakos, and David Perez; his grandchildren, David Perez Jr and Benjamin Perez. He is also survived by his mother Carmen Gladys Candiotti, his sisters Carmen McDonald and Nancy Tilton. He is preceded in death by his loving father Miguel Candiotti.

We are honoring Manny with a celebration of his life in accordance with his wishes. Please join us in remembering Manuel Antonio Perez as we celebrate the joy he brought to those around him and a life well-lived.
