Leah Castrance Schaefer, 70

Leah Castrance Schaefer, 70 of Orange Park, FL passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2026.  Leah was born in Zambales, Philippines to the late Euglogio Guiang and Aurora Anoche Castrance. She moved from Olongapo City, Philippines to the United States in 1984 and then to Clay County in 1996. She was a Dietary aide at Life Care and a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church.

Leah was known for her hospitality and willingness to lend a helping hand without being asked.  Never one to stay idle, she would grab a broom or anything to help and earning her nickname for her acts of kindness, “Little Leah at work”. Leah loved the beach, working in the garden and was a wonderful cook. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Mrs. Schaefer is survived by her husband of 42 years, Brian Schaefer, sons, John, Patrick, Russel daughters, Christine, Jennifer, Kathleen and Yha.

A Mass of Celebration will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, August 27, 2026 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church with burial to follow in Russell Haven of Rest Cemetery. A time of visitation will begin at 10:00 AM of Thursday prior to services at the church.
