John William Golish, 91

John William Golish, 91 of Clay Hill passed away Friday, January 9, 2026.  John was born in Pennsylvania and grew up in Whitesville, NY.  After high school, he joined the US Navy and served from 1952-1958.  While stationed at NAS, John met Eileen and they married in November of 1957.  Following his career in the navy, he worked with Ditaphone in Jacksonville, Gainesville and Daytona Beach.

John moved to Clay Hill in 1971 and retired as a longshoreman in Jacksonville.  He served as chief and was a member of the Clay Hill Volunteer Fire Department from 1971-1989.  After having fulltime jobs and other activities, John finally retired to spend time with his grandchildren.

Mr. Golish was preceded in death by his wife Eileen Golish and is survived by his sons, Mike Golish and Tony (Karen) Golish, sister, Joyce Waters, three grandchildren, Brittany, Lyndsey, and Joshua and one great grandson, Jett.

Graveside Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday in Russell Haven of Rest Cemetery with Pastor Chad Weeks officiating.
