John Michael Mac Neil, 82

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of John Michael Lawrence (Larry) Mac Neil, 82. Born August 9, 1935 in Grand Narrows, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late Captain Angus and Mary Jane (Mac Neil) Mac Neil.

Larry started his career by serving three years in the Royal Canadian Air Force, he then worked for AT&T Subsidiary companies from 1957 to 1989; Eastern Tel & Tel in Sydney Mines, Sydney and Pictou, Nova Scotia. He spent one year with the New Brunswick Telephone Company in Saint John, N.B.. He worked with transoceanic Communications in Gatun, Panama Canal Zone and St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands; and Transpacific Communications in Tamuning, Guam. In 1989

Larry retired to Orlando, Florida, and then moved to his present home in Green Cove Springs in 1999.

Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1963 he never let that be an obstacle to living a full life and always said he was the luckiest guy in the world. Everyone who knew him commented on his bright attitude and his infectious smile. He was a man that was truly admired by all.

Larry is predeceased by his loving wife Mary Elizabeth (Fraser) MacNeil and survived by five children John Lawrence Jr., Gerald Thompson, Mary Melinda, Patrick Stewart (Malia Boardman), and Ronald Gregory. He will be sadly missed by his seven grandchildren: Christina Marie (Graham Ransom), Laura Ashley (Curtis Wall), Julia Breanne, Shannon Mary, Heather Michelle, Margaret Ann, Michael Patrick Steven MacNeil, along with five great grand children: Alison Natassia and Jake Aiden Ransom, Connor William, Cassidy Nancy MacNeil and Payton Jane Wall. He is survived by his brother J. Walter (Florence) MacNeil and sisters Patsy (Leonard) Chisholm and Francis (Rod) Campbell.  He leaves behind many nieces and nephews who always enjoyed a good visit with Uncle Larry.
