John Joseph Whitehurst, 75

John Joseph Whitehurst, 75 of Jacksonville, FL passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2017. Mr. Whitehurst was born in Columbus, Georgia and moved to the Jacksonville area over 55 years ago.  John worked all his life beginning at the age of 12 growing up in Georgia, Louisiana and Indiana.  In Jacksonville he was a truck driver and mechanic and drove for Swift as well as Georgia Pacific hauling paper products.  Mr. Whitehurst served in the US Army during the Korean War.

Mr. Whitehurst is survived by his wife, Nita Whitehurst, children, Jo Todd and Darrin Whitehurst, six grandchildren, Casey, Chelsa, Cassady, CJ, Steven and Anthony and five great grandchildren.

Graveside Services will be 12:30 PM Friday, September 8, 2017 in Jacksonville National Cemetery with military honors.
