Joan Gernhard, 80

Joan Gernhard, 80, of Orange Park, FL passed away Friday, October 27, 2017.  Mrs. Gernhard was born in Booneville, Mississippi to the late Clyde and Mary Ellen Peak and moved to the area in 1972.  Her family meant everything to her.  Her whole life was about her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  They were the most important thing to her and she devoted her life to loving them.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, James Gernhard; her brother, Marshall Peak; and her sister, Merle Skelton.  She is survived by her four sons, Joseph (Debbie) Gernhard, David (Ruth) Gernhard, Thomas (Abbie) Gernhard, John (Nita) Gernhard; her three daughters, Shirley Gernhard, Joyce Gernhard, and Judy Gernhard; fourteen grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00am Tuesday, October 31 in the chapel of Russell Haven of Rest with James B. Strange officiating.  Burial will follow at Jacksonville National Cemetery at 1:30pm.  Visitation with the family will be from 10-11:00am Tuesday prior to services.
