James D. Knight, 83

James D. Knight, 83 of Middleburg, FL passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2019.  Mr. Knight served in the US Navy, was a graduate of Jacksonville University and retired as an inspector for the Florida Department of Health after over 30 years.  One of James’ favorite things to do was being an amateur archeologist and geologist.  The picture on his obituary page shows one of his most proud finds; the bone of a Mastodon, which will be placed in a museum in the near future giving credit to James.

Mr. Knight is survived by friends, Billy Strickland, Teresa Strickland, and Annette Green along with many other friends he felt were like family.

Graveside Services will be held 10:00 AM Monday, October 14, 2019 in Penney Farms Cemetery.

    Jim, you will be greatly missed. I think you missed your calling as a teacher. I learned so much from you. From your many travels, about shells, cultures, prehistoric artifacts, and all I learned from you at the State office.
