Harry R. Benton, 58 of Middleburg, FL passed away Monday, January 17, 2022.  Harry was born in Jacksonville to the late Raburn Alfred and JoAnn Smith Benton and lived most of his life in Clay County.  He worked with his family at Benton HVAC, later at NAS JAX in HVAC until 2008.  Harry was a member of Russell Baptist Church, enjoyed traveling the mountains, singing, being “Papa” to his three grandchildren and also being Uncle Harry.

Mr. Benton is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sheri Benton, children, Savannah (Travis) Johnson, Erin (Josh) Skipper, Taylor (Jesse) Mills, and Gabriel Smith, sisters, Lisa Benton and Deborah Young, grandchildren, Kanyn, Ansleigh, and Loughlin, niece, Hailey, nephew, Mitchell great niece, Payelyn and many extended family.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, January 22, 2022 in Russell Baptist Church with burial in Russell Haven of Rest Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be from 10-11:00 prior to services.

In lieu of flowers we are asking you to give back to the children’s hospital and support the Baptist NICU where two of his grand babies stayed to honor his legacy.

  • Harry was a special man, his heart as big as the world, he was always willing to help anyone even if it included asking for additional help or knowledge should he need it, which I was always willing to help, if he asked me, I was not the only one that he would ask. His smile and laughter was contagious. I always loved being around Harry, listening to him sing. I will surely miss Harry, for a better friend you would never find. RIP my friend, I will see you again one day.
