Gerald Allen Johnson, AOC (USN Ret.), 76

Gerald Allen Johnson, AOC (USN, Ret.), 76, of Orange Park, FL passed away Saturday, October 5, 2019 after a long illness.  Gerald was born in Duluth, Minnesota to the late Catherine Mary Hawkins-Johnson and Ralph A. Johnson.  Gerald was a retired U.S. Navy Vietnam veteran and retired Federal Civil Service employee.  He was a member of Hibernia Baptist Church in Fleming Island.  He was active in many local community affairs, working with young people in the Boy Scouts of America, Navy League sponsored Sea Cadet program, past Vice President of the local Jacksonville chapter of the Florida Foster Parent Association and was a volunteer with many military museum organizations.  Gerald was a member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), American Legion, U.S. Navy Memorial Foundation, and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).  He was an avid aviation and military ship model builder.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Catherine and Ralph Johnson; and two brothers, Howard Johnson and Robert Johnson.  He is survived by his beloved wife, Rachel Moree Johnson; one son, Randall Johnson; and two grandchildren, Alexa and Trevor Johnson.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, October 10, 2019 at 11:00am at Hibernia Baptist Church, 7100 US 17, Fleming Island, FL 32003.  Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at 10:00am.  Burial will follow at 1:30pm in Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218.
