Frank Wallace Clyma, Jr., 81

Frank Wallace Clyma, Jr., 81, of Fleming Island, FL, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.  Mr. Clyma was born in Waterbury, CT, to the late Frank W. Clyma, Sr. and Helen Stevens Clyma.  He served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and earned his degree from the University of Connecticut in 1974.

Frank’s life was a beautiful balance of soaring adventure and grounded devotion. His journey took a wonderful turn in 1993 when he met his wife, Margie, while square dancing in Orange Park, Florida. They were married in 1995, embarking on a life filled with shared travel and camping trips across New England and the Western states. When he wasn’t exploring the country with Margie, Frank was often found in the sky as a passionate ultralight pilot or in his workshop, meticulously building and flying model airplanes. Above all, he cherished the community of family and friends, particularly during their frequent game nights. Frank’s greatest joy was the time spent with those he loved.

devoted member of the Christian Church, Frank remained steadfast in his convictions and was a dedicated participant in numerous Bible Study groups throughout his life.  Known for his friendly demeanor, Mr. Clyma frequently welcomed new neighbors to the community.  He had a good sense of humor and enjoyed spending time gardening, fishing, and exploring history.  An intelligent and inquisitive man, he never stopped learning and enjoyed researching many topics.

Mr. Clyma is predeceased by his parents, Frank Sr. and Helen Clyma; as well as two sisters, Michelle Nodine and Lynn Clyma.  He is survived by his devoted wife of 31 years, Margie Clyma; children, Bill (Carol), Bob, and Janet; brothers, John Clyma (Margaret) and Pastor William Clyma; nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will take place on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at 10am in the chapel at Russell Haven of Rest.
