Eugene Edmond Gavron III, 77

Eugene Edmond Gavron III, known to many as Ed or Eddie, passed away March 28th, 2022, in Middleburg, FL. Born March 15, 1945, In Salisbury, NC. Ed graduated from Boyden High in 1969 and went on to earn a degree in computer science from Jones College. Amusing, as he was no fan of later technology. He enlisted in the Air Force and did 2 tours of duty in Vietnam. His early career was as a drug representative for Block Drug, specializing in dental care. He found his one true love with the scuba life and opened a dive shop, Aqua Explorers Dive Center in Fernandina Beach, FL in the late 1980’s. This led to his involvement in Amelia Island Research & Recovery and the building of the Polly L, a one-of-a-kind lift boat/excavator used for coastal shipwreck salvage. His love of all thing’s scuba took him to Cozumel, Mexico where he bought a home in the middle of the local scene, as he wanted to be immersed in the culture. The locals began to call him, Gran Jefe, meaning Big Boss. After many years, this Expat returned to Florida, residing once again in Fernandina Beach, FL. Eddie will be remembered for his humor, his love of family, friends who were like family and his immense love of the soft drink, Cheerwine. He is preceded in death by his mother Colleen Mesimer Gavron of Jacksonville, FL and his sister Linda Joan Gavron Price of Indian Land, SC. He is survived by his brother-in-law, Jim Price of Indian Trail, NC; his niece Jennifer Price of Indian Trail, NC; his nephew Darren Price of Pineville, NC, Darren’s wife, Karen and two Great Nieces Katelyn and Lindsey Price, also of Pineville, NC. The Price family would like to extend the upmost thanks and appreciation to Ed’s dear friends Doug and Jan Pope, who we are sure were sent directly from heaven.
