Elnora Horsley Layfield, 95, of Green Cove Springs, FL passed away peacefully in her sleep Sunday, June 8, 2025.  She was born in Birmingham, AL to the late Monroe and Ollie Carrol Horsley and moved to Clay County over 75 years ago.  In her younger years, Elnora enjoyed fishing, going to the dog track and watching wrestling and her soap operas.  More recently, she enjoyed watching game shows, old Western movies, playing poker and circle word puzzles.  She was a straightforward woman, and you always knew where you stood with her.  Elnora always had her door open to others and took people in to stay with her if they needed a hand up.

Elnora was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack Layfield; two sons, Bill Layfield and Jack Layfield; three daughters, Barbara Holland, Elaine Cooper, and Amy Barber; as well as all her siblings.  She is survived by three sons, Mike Layfield, David Layfield (Cherry Thacker), and James Layfield (Kay); one daughter, Robin Cranford (Donald); 22 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and a large extended family.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 12, 2025 at 11am in the chapel at Russell Haven of Rest with Patrick Martin officiating.  Burial will follow in the Heritage Section of Russell Haven of Rest.  Visitation with the family will begin one hour prior to the funeral at 10am.
