Edward D. Echols, Jr., 89

Edward D. Echols, Jr., 89 of Jacksonville, FL passed away Thursday, January 18, 2024.  Ed was born in Jacksonville to the late Edward, Sr. and DeMaris Echols and remained in Jacksonville almost all his life. After graduating from Robert E. Lee High School, he served in the US Air Force, stationed in London, England during the Korean War and spent a few years attending the University of Tennessee and the University of Florida.  For over 20 years, Ed worked in the cosmetic industry in sales for various companies before his retirement.  He was known as a patient person, enjoyed playing poker and being “Papa” to his children and grandchildren.  Ed will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Mr. Echols was preceded in death by his brother, George Echols and is survived by his wife of 66 years, Gail Echols, children, Michael (Beatrice) Echols, Terri (the late, Allen Combs) Combs, and Sandra Kay Joiner, sister, DeMaris Henage, grandchildren, Chris, Sandi, Amy and Parker, great grandchildren, Carolyna, Addison, Savanna, Morgan, and Rilee.
