Edward A. Shancey, III, 63
Edward A. Shancey III, 63, of Keystone Heights, FL passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2026. Ed was born in Honesdale, PA to Edward A. Shancey II and the late Alyce Rollison Scheuch. He was a hardworking man and took great pride in building his business, Decubex Incorporated. Over his 29-year career, Ed grew his business into four states with 12 offices and 57 employees. He was a mentor to many, professionally and personally; and was generous with his knowledge and advice. Ed loved to travel and enjoyed the planning of the trip as much as the actual trip. Curious by nature, he enjoyed learning about new locations and history. His musical taste was all over the board and you never knew what his playlist for the day would include.
Ed loved his family dearly. He enjoyed planning their holidays, vacations, and spending time together. He was a true patriarch of the family. Most important to Ed was his relationship with his Lord and Savior. He would rise early in the morning and go into his prayer room to spend time in prayer and bible study. He enjoyed sharing what he learned from his bible studies. A courageous man, Ed looked life straight in the eye. Even in his death, he was able to call it when he knew he had no path back to his healthy, vibrant way of life.
Ed was preceded in death by his mother, Alyce Rollison Scheuch. He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Susan Shancey; children, Alicia Smith, Jacquelyn O’Leary (Brian), Samuel Flagg (Rebecca), Shannon Shancey, Amber Shancey, and Emily Shancey; his father, Edward Shancey (Elaine); sisters, Lauren Shancey Jack and Wendy Shancey; brothers, Jay Shancey and Robert Shancey; as well as two grandsons he was a proud Pop Pop to, Patrick O’Leary and Harry Rollo.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 3, 2026 at 2pm in the chapel at Russell Haven of Rest with Todd Hodgson officiating. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to services at 1pm. Burial will follow at Russell Haven of Rest Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made in Ed’s memory to the American Cancer Society, https://donate.cancer.org/.
