Douglas L. “Doug” Silva, 82

Douglas L. “Doug” Silva, 82 of Middleburg, FL passed away Friday, December 25, 2015. Mr. Silva was a native of Miami, Fl and moved to Middleburg 40 years ago from Jacksonville. He was a 24 years veteran of the US Navy.   Over the years, Mr. Silva worked with many restaurants in the Jacksonville area and worked as a security guard at the Ravines prior to his retirement. Doug loved to cook, fish, hit the garage sales and thrift stores and was known for giving a good laugh to family and friends whenever he was around. When he would travel on vacations, he was never in a hurry, not wanting to pass up something good to see or find something to buy.

Mr. Silva is survived by his life partner of 36 years, Ann Smith, children, Kitty (Paul) Gilcrease, Danette Smith, Lorrie Billings, Kristina Thoresen, Brian Smith and Jon L. Smith, sister, Deanna Stephens, 24 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. He was preceded death by his sisters, Teggy and Faith.

Memorial Services will be held 2:30 PM Monday, January 4, 2016 in the Jacksonville National Cemetery with Military Honors by the US Navy.
