Donald Jerrel Wager, 73, of Green Cove Springs, FL passed away on September 15, 2025.  He was a lifelong resident of Green Cove Springs and was known to be a simple man who kept to himself.  Although he briefly drove semitrucks for local logging companies, Donnie’s passion was being a farmer.  In his younger years, he enjoyed gardening and worked alongside his father raising hogs and cows.  Among all the animals, his horses were always his favorite.  Donnie was known for his strong will and liked to do things his own way.  Despite his preference for keeping to himself, Donnie had a sense of humor and liked to joke around.

Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, Horace Eugene Wager and Anna Mae Bland Wager; and two brothers, Jack Wager, and Vernon Wager.  He is survived by his three sons, Chad Wager (Shelley), Jason Wager (Tracy), and Rusty Wager (Crystal); four brothers, Bobby Wager, Jimbo Wager, Harold Wager, and Billy Wager; four sisters, Lila Stanley, Maryann Herron, Fern Deel, and Martha Moody; nine grandchildren who call him “Papa Wager”, Gavin Wager, Aubree Wager, Thomas Wager (Bella), Wesley Wager, Nathaniel Wager, Payton Wager, Megan Chesser (Dalton), Sam Wager and Zeth Wager; as well as one great-grandson, Braxton Chesser.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 10am at Grace Missionary Baptist Church, 4411 Springbank Rd., Green Cove Springs, with Glenn Tillis officiating.  Burial will follow in the Wager section of Springbank Cemetery.
