Donald F. Kendall and Jannette Kendall, 56 years of marriage

Donald Franklin Kendall, age 83, passed away September 5, 2015 at Chesapeake General Hospital in Chesapeake, Virginia with his wife Jannette, daughter Cindy, granddaughter Melissa, and great-granddaughter Payson by his side.  He was born February 17, 1933 in Green Cove Springs, Florida to Benjamin Franklin “Frank” and Elva Martha (Muth) Kendall.  He served as a proud member of the US Army during the Korean War until his honorable discharge July 5, 1955. On January 10, 1959 he married Jannette Delores Lamm. Together they raised a son and two daughters. He lived in Green Cove Springs until moving to Texas and then Virginia in 1994. One of his last goals was to relocate back to Green Cove Springs to be near his family and lifelong friends. Donald never met a stranger. His love of people, quick wit, humor, along with the effortless way he carried on conversations, created an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Jannette Kendall, one son, Donnie Kendall, two daughters, Brenda Herring and Cindy Kendall; Six grandchildren,  Eight Great Grandchildren, and many cousins, nephews, and nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Linnett and Lorraine, granddaughter Stacie, and nieces Donna, Linda, and Judy.

Jannette Delores Lamm Kendall went to be with the Lord on January 3, 2017 at Hospice of the Comforter in Altamonte Springs, Florida, with her daughter Cindy by her side. Jannette was born on August 6, 1939 in Washington, North Carolina to Allison Grady Lamm and Era Irene Ayers Lamm Carey. She found great comfort, love, and joy spending her last days with her daughters, Brenda Herring and Cindy Kendall, her granddaughters Alicia and Melissa Gier, her great granddaughters; Madeline, Savannah, Emma, Payson, Sadie and Maddy and nephew Jonathan, his wife Nikki and children Matthew and Abigail Lamm.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years; Donald Franklin Kendall, parents John Harrison and Era Irene Ayers Lamm Carey; sister Avis Louise, brothers Clifton Darvin, Robert Eugene, Grady Keith, Timothy James Lamm, and her granddaughter Stacie Herring. Jannette is survived by her son, Donnie Kendall, daughters Brenda Herring and Cynthia Kendall, seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.

Memorial Services for Mr. and Mrs. Kendall will be held 11:00 AM Friday, February 10, 2017 in the Chapel of Russell Haven of Rest with Rev. Ron Baker officiating.
