Debra Smallwood Wright, 71

Debra Smallwood Wright, 71, of Green Cove Springs, FL passed away Saturday, October 3, 2026.  Debra was born in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Johnny Smallwood and Lina McDade. After growing up in Jacksonville, she married Clabourne Wright III and moved to Clay County in 1976 where they made their home. She worked with her husband who was a Licensed Professional Land Surveyor since 1984 and together they operated Professional Survey Systems, Inc.

Debbie enjoyed going to the beach, fishing with her husband as well as being “Mimi” to her five grandchildren. She was the matriarch and rock of her family – wise, selfless, hardworking and tough. She never complained and always put her family’s needs before her own. Even through life’s hardest moments, she remained positive and encouraging, never wavering in her love and support for those around her.

Mrs. Wright is survived by sons, Clabourne “Clay” Hinton Wright, IV (Cesci) and Conner Travis Wright (Courtney), five grandchildren, Julian, Modlin, Isla, Hudson, and Hinton, brothers, Allan Smallwood (Carolyn), Michael McDade (Joyce) sisters, Karen Jordan (Paul), Linda Holliman (Roger) nieces, Amy, Melissa, Kelley, and Caitlin, nephews, Austin, Blake, and James as well as extended family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
