Debra Marie Ross, 69, of Jacksonville, FL went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 31, 2025. She passed peacefully surrounded by her family. Debbie was born on August 2, 1955, in Miami Beach, FL to Karlton and Marie Ross. Being in the family of a US Marine, she moved from Miami Beach to Quantico, VA and then later to Jacksonville, FL where she grew up and attended school at Normandy Village Elementary, Stilwell Junior High, and Ed White Senior High School. Later she moved to Fort Lauderdale and attended Broward Community College, then to the University of South Florida in Tampa, graduating with a major in psychology and minor in sociology. During her lifetime, she worked in medical records at various health care facilities, with her last employer being Borland Groover for 17 years.

In her younger years, Debbie was an avid bowler and very good. Her other hobbies included making and decorating beautiful cakes for family and holiday celebrations. Debbie enjoyed traveling and took a year off from working to travel with her parents in their RV. They traveled throughout the Southeastern and Northeastern part of the US. Beach getaways were always a favorite. She also enjoyed cruising with her Mom, going to various ports of call throughout the Caribbean and Alaska. One of Debbie’s greatest joys was loving and taking care of her many cats throughout the years. She enjoyed keeping up with world events and politics while watching Fox News.

Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, Karlton and Marie Ross; and her brother, Scott Ross. She is survived by her three brothers, Lawrence (Cathy), Rick (Kim), and Greg (Sandra); sister-in-law, Karon; nephew, Larry; nieces, Shauna, Mandy, Rachel, and Katee; great nephews and niece, Joshua, Alden, Brody and Ava.

Debbie was a devoted daughter, sister, and aunt. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 22, 2025 in the Chapel of Russell Haven of Rest Funeral Home. Her interment will be in a family plot at Forest Dale Cemetery in Crown Point, New York.
