Carlton Lorraine Metts, 75

Carlton Lorraine Metts, 75 of Middleburg, FL passed away Saturday, December 31, 2016. Mr. Metts was born in Willacoochee, Georgia and grew up in the Douglas, Georgia area.  He moved to Middleburg in 1991 from Jacksonville where he lived from 1960.  Carlton retired from the Florida Department of Agriculture after 30 years as a meat inspector and food safety.  He enjoyed the outdoors and loved to hunt, fish, and work in his woodshop.  Mr. Metts was loved by his family and he will be missed dearly.

Mr. Metts was preceded in death by his parents, Venton L. and Iva Mae Metts and is survived by his wife of 57 years, Virchel “Laverne” Metts, daughter, Sharon (Ricky) Williams, son, Greg (Kristie) Metts, brother, Travis (Dollie) Metts, grandsons, Greg Metts, Jr. and Lance (Jessica) Williams, great granddaughter, Brooklynn, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 4, 2016 in the Chapel of Russell Haven of Rest with Rev. Leroy Spivey and Rev. Gary Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in Russell Haven of Rest Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be from 5-7:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
