Bud “Pop” Alligood, 98

Bud “Pop” Alligood, 98, of Lake Butler, FL, passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.  Bud was born in Moultrie, GA on March 1, 1927, to the late Clarence and Flossie Palmer Alligood.  Bud was a “jack of all trades” as evidenced by his lengthy working years.  He was a movie theater ticket taker when he was a boy in Moultrie, GA., restaurant owner, Western Southern Insurance salesman, police officer, police diver, firemen, long haul truck driver, self-taught carpenter, mechanic, phosphate and sand mine foreman, power plant worker, car transport driver to list only a few of the many jobs he held.

Bud enjoyed many hobbies, including hunting, gardening, fishing, camping and raising/riding horses.  Some of his favorite things to do were attending church, leading singing, going on church mission trips, attending gospel sings, church revivals and camp meetings. He was known for faithfully visiting nursing homes, hospitals and the shut ins.  He loved having family over to his and Grannies place for breakfast to have his famous homemade cathead biscuits/gravy and grannies strawberry/peach jam or dinner for fried chicken or catfish, then he loved gathering in the living room or porch, for a time of gospel singing and fellowship.

He was a member of New Life Baptist Church in Starke, FL, pastored by grandson, Michael Shane Worten, where he enjoyed being active in attending services, gospel sings and revivals.  During his recent relocation, he attended services led by grandson, James Buss, at Lake Park of Madison Nursing/Rehab Center, Madison, FL.

He was devoted to God, his beloved wife and had a deep, abiding love for family and friends.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Flossie Palmer Alligood; his son, Clif Alligood; children, David Laurie, Sharon Ludlow (John), and Pat (Miller) Serafin; daughter-in-law, Barbara Alligood; son-in-law, Jeff Wattles; grandson, Luke Ludlow; siblings, Agnes Elizabeth Turner, Noah Clarence Jr., Wallace (Gene) Alligood; his first wife, Bonnie Zapp Alligood; and his second wife, Eloise McGlashan Alligood.

Bud is survived by his wife, Elaine Wilson Alligood; children, Connie Campbell (Kevin) and Sherri Wattles; siblings, Joel Alligood and Sarah Wren; grandchildren, Jason Alligood (Shelly), James Buss (Amanda), Troy Campbell (Hillary), Chris Campbell, Brandi Laurie, Jeff Laurie, Buck Ludlow (Kelly), Gina Worten, Lori Farmer, Sherri Ballard, Gina King, William (Bud) Serafin, and Bruce Michael Jr. Serafin; great-grandchildren, Gavin and Benjamin Alligood, Waylon, Georgia Mae, Liberty and Josiah Campbell, Michael Shane (Makenzie), Joshua and Andrew (Madilyn) Worten, Judah, Jeremiah, Faith and Sarah Buss, Lex and Allysa Ludlow, Piper Spears, Dusty Wessell, Brianna and David Sherman, four great-great grandchildren.

The family of Bud (Pop) Alligood welcomes flowers as well as any sentimental items or donations.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 20, 2025, at 11am in the chapel at Russell Haven of Rest.  Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to funeral services at 10am.  Burial will follow in Russell Haven of Rest Cemetery.
