Bobby Russell Wager, 93

Bobby Russell Wager, 93 of Green Cove Springs, FL passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2026.  Bobby was born to the late Eugene and Mae Bland Wager and was a lifelong resident of Clay County.  After graduating from Clay High School, Bobby served in the US Army.  He was employed by Johns Manville until 1980 and retired from Clay County School Board as a supervisor after 20 years.

If you were ever wondering how long it would take to run uptown; send Bobby.  Bobby would visit with everyone and was friendly to all.  A short trip was never a quick trip.  Bobby enjoyed riding in the golf cart, gardening with the tractor and being “Granddaddy”.

Mr. Wager was preceded in death by his son, Chris Wager and his son-in-law Virgil Jones.  He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Verna Wager, daughters, Phyllis (Joe) Spradling and Denise Jones, brothers, Jimbo (Betty) Wager, Harold Wager and Billy Wage, daughters, Lila Stanley, Mary Ann Herren, Martha Lee Moody and Fern Deel, grandchildren, Heather, Joseph, Rachel, Cierra, and Ryan, eleven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and extended family.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, March 21, 2026 in the Chapel of Russell Haven of Rest Funeral Home with burial in Russell Haven of Rest Cemetery.  Dr. Tim McDaniel will officiate.  A time of visitation will begin at 1:00 PM until services on Saturday.
