Cecil H. Jones, Jr., 83

Cecil H. Jones, Jr., 83, of Fleming Island, FL passed away peacefully on October 6th, 2026. Born in 1943 in Byron, GA, to Cecil H. and Ethel Jones, Cecil was the second of four children, and the only son. He developed a strong work ethic early on to provide a comfortable life for his family. At age 17, he enlisted in the United States Navy for three years, before attending the University of South Florida where he graduated with a degree in management. He then went on to work for UPS for nearly 30 years as an industrial engineer. Outside of work and into retirement, Cecil loved to be outdoors (hunting, fishing, gardening), spending time with his family, learning about the bible, and watching the stock market. Cecil was generous with his time and money, always willing to give financial advice to family and friends and supporting charities, particularly those that benefited children. Cecil will be dearly missed.

Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil H. and Ethel Jones; sister, Pat Walker; and son, Kent A. Jones. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Bunny Jones; daughter, Jennifer (Rodney) Carpenter; sisters, Cynthia (Charlie) Bozeman and Donna Lauricio; four grandchildren, Nicholas Jones and Ryan, Chris, and Cecilia Carpenter; and beloved extended family.

A graveside service will be held Friday, October 16, 2026 at 9am at Jacksonville National Cemetery with Pastor Bryan McNair officiating.
