James Warren Chalker, 80
It is with a heavy heart but bittersweet announcement of the passing of James Chalker. Beloved Husband, father, brother, granddaddy & great-grandaddy. James was born on April 26, 1946 at NAS Pensacola FL to his parents Joseph V. Chalker Sr., and Maureen Weathers Chalker.
James graduated Escambia High School in 1964 and attended Pensacola Jr College and married his high school sweetheart Sharon Hamp on May 29, 1966. He entered the USMC in 1966 and served in the 3rd Battalion/26th Regiment in some of the most intense fighting of the Vietnam War.
After his discharge he became an installer-repairman for Southern Bell and worked for 34 years retiring from Avaya Phone Company. He then worked an additional 13 years as a civilian records clerk for the Clay County Sheriffs Office retiring in 2015. James was an ordained deacon in the Southern Baptist Church and served the Lord all of his life.
James is survived by his wife of 60 years Sharon, his oldest brother Joseph V. Chalker Jr. (wife Kathleen), his three sons Scott, Bryan (wife Dana) and Adam (wife Cheryl) along with seven grandchildren and three great grand children.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, September 24, 2026 at First Baptist Church, Middleburg, FL. Rev. Ralph Estevez will be officiating. A time of visitation will begin at 10:00 AM prior to services. Burial will follow in Jacksonville National Cemetery
James reached the end of his long journey with a long goodbye. His faith was unshakable and his witness for Jesus Christ above everything else. He is now enjoying all those gifts of heaven we will someday experience with him. Forever in our hearts with love.
