Robert Roland Powers, 102

Robert Roland Powers, 102, of Fleming Island, FL passed away Thursday August 13, 2026.  Robert was born in Clarksville, TN in his grandparent’s house (Halliburton Family) to the late Edgar and Bertha Powers.  He was raised in Clarksville and graduated from Clarksville High School in May of 1941.  Robert served in the United States Navy Seabees from 1943-1946 and received the American Theater Metal and Victory WWII Medal.  Following his military service, he attended Bowling Green College of Commerce (Now Western Kentucky University) and gained his BS in Higher Accounting in May of 1948.

Robert was a charter member, elder, treasurer and choir director of St Lukes Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Tennessee for 24 years. He enjoyed singing and with his wife frequently sang at church and on the radio during 1947-1948.  He worked as an accountant and controller for Nashville Bridge Company, Hackett Precision Company and later for the early HCA in Nashville.  After retirement he moved to Jacksonville, Florida to be with his children Robert attributes his long and blessed life to the Lord getting him thorough the uncertainty of the years during WWII and trusting him who provided him with a loving wife and wonderful family.

Mr. Powers was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years (Married, November 5, 1948), Patricia L. Draper (1928-2007) and brother, Edgar Powers, Jr.  He is survived by his children, Dr Robert Roland (Marta) Powers Jr., Lynn (Ginny) Powers, Alicia Powers, Grandchildren, Jennifer Powers Benton, Jason Myers, Christy Love, Ryan Powers, Cory Powers, Madison Powers Stephens, Great grandchildren, Aiden McClendon, Payton Owens, Caitlyn Owens, and Rylee Love.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, August 20, 2026 at River Christian Church with Pastor Nathan Freeman officiating.  Military honors will be presented by the United States Navy.
