Marjorie “Margie” Baylis, 69, of Green Cove Springs, Florida, passed away April 4. 2026.
Born on June 10, 1956, in Jamaica, New York to Richard and Dewanda Dorff, Margie was known as fiercely protective to and loving of her family.
A Navy veteran, Margie served as a dental hygienist from October 1974 to July 1977. It was in a dental clinic in Norfolk that she met her husband of 50 years, Ron, when he sat down in her chair. Together, they moved to Pensacola, FL, Charleston, SC, Virginia Beach, VA, Washington, DC, and Stuttgart, Germany. Throughout each of the moves, Margie was the backbone of the family, providing a sense of stability for her children, Shannon and David. She also worked in various dental offices over the years as a dental assistant. Margie and Ron retired and settled in Green Cove Springs, FL.
Margie was happiest when she was with her grandsons, Michael, Victor, and Alexander, and celebrated often in their accomplishments. She also loved to spend time with her many family dogs, who were her constant companions.
Margie is survived by her husband, Ronald E. Baylis Jr.; her father and stepmother, Richard Dorff and Michelle L’Heureux; her daughter and son-in-law, Shannon and Ernie Sarino; three grandsons, Michael, Victor, and Alexander; and four dogs, Molly, Violet, Marcie, and Sophie. She is also survived by her brothers and sister-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her son, David, and her mother, Dewanda.
A private burial will take place at St. Augustine National Cemetery at a later date.
