Isandra Mendez, 45, of Orange Park, passed away peacefully in the morning hours of January 29, 2026. She was born in Paterson, New Jersey, to her loving parents, Isaul Torres and Adelina Bou.
Isandra met the love of her life, Harry Mendez, on September 11, 1997, while attending high school in Waukegan, Illinois. They were true high school sweethearts, and from the very beginning, everyone around them could feel the deep love they shared. Isandra and Harry were married on July 10, 1999, and together they built a beautiful life rooted in love, laughter, and devotion to family.
Her children were the very center of Isandra’s world. She was a devoted and loving mother, affectionately known as “Mami” not only by her own children, but also by their friends, all of whom were welcomed into her home with warmth, humor, and unconditional love.
In her youth, Isandra was deeply connected to her Puerto Rican heritage. She was a proud cultural dancer in Paterson, New Jersey, and later with the Puerto Rican Society in Waukegan, where she performed traditional Bomba and Plena dances. Her passion for culture, music, and expression stayed with her throughout her life.
Isandra had an incredible creative spirit. She was known for making thoughtful, one-of-a-kind gifts, beautiful decorations, and especially her unforgettable Halloween costumes. She adored holidays and birthdays and was famous for going all out with decorations and celebrations. Halloween held a special place in her heart—she loved dressing up and creating elaborate costumes that brought joy and laughter to everyone around her.
Naturally funny and full of life, Isandra had a gift for making people laugh. At every job she held, she formed lasting friendships and became the light and fun of the workplace. When she changed careers, coworkers would often say how boring it was without her and how much they missed her presence. Even in her final days, Isandra continued to bring smiles and laughter to those around her, including the nurses who lovingly cared for her.
She is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Harry Mendez; her parents, Isaul and Adelina Bou; her children, Devin Mendez, Emanuel “Manny” Mendez, Jaelis Mendez, Jaslyn Mendez, and Vivian Mendez; her cherished granddaughter,Penelope Bautisa.; her brothers, Omar Rivera and George Rivera; and her sister, Isa Torres.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on February 9, 2026, at Russell Haven of Rest Chapel. A time of visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 a.m., prior to the service.
Isandra’s laughter, creativity, love, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.
