John “Jack” William Nugent Jr., 79

John “Jack” William Nugent Jr. passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.

Fondly known by friends and family as Jack, he was born in Brooklyn, New York. Jack spent most of his life in Brooklyn and New Jersey before relocating to Florida after his retirement. He truly embraced the Florida lifestyle and especially loved spending time at the beach.

Jack enjoyed fishing, listening to heavy metal music, and was a lifelong, devoted fan of the New York Giants and the New York Rangers. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family. He held a special place in his heart for his grandchildren and his beloved niece, Tracey. Jack was also an avid animal lover, especially devoted to his faithful brown Labrador, “Lilly.”

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, John W. Nugent Sr. and Eleanor Nugent, and his sister, Barbara Ann Nugent.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 30 years, Susan Nugent; his sons, Daniel Zommer (Kristin) and Jonathan Zommer (Thailary); his sister, Ginny Pfost; his cherished grandchildren, Katie Zommer, Joseph Zommer, Danica Zommer, and Emilia Zommer; his niece, Tracey Reyes; and his nephews, Dylan Reyes, Mason Reyes, and Nolan Reyes.

Jack will be remembered for his love of family, his loyalty, and the joy he found in life’s simple pleasures. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
