Barbara Jean Harrington Hoffmann, 72
Barbara Jean Harrington Hoffmann, 72, of Middleburg, FL passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2026. A native of Florida, Barbara was born in Jacksonville to the late James and Nora Lee Harrington. Barbara graduated from Paxon High School in 1971 and married her high school sweetheart, Karl, just six months later. Throughout their 54 years of marriage, she was a devoted wife who deeply loved her sons and cherished her grandchildren. She retired from the Clay County School District after a career spanning more than 25 years. Barbara’s friendly personality helped her succeed in multiple administrative roles at Wilkinson Junior High School, the Clay County School District’s main office, as well as Middleburg Elementary School.
Barbara was an avid quilter and spent many hours making beautiful quilts for her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling to quilt shows all over the country with her friends and was a member of the First Coast Quilters Guild. An outgoing woman, Barbara enjoyed talking with people and never met a stranger.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, James and Nora Lee Harrington; three brothers, Jimmy Harrington, Gary Harrington, and Raymond Harrington; and one sister, Ava Mansfield. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Karl Hoffmann; two sons, Scott Hoffmann (Meredith) and Eric Hoffmann (Courtney); one sister, Frances Conner; and three grandchildren who call her “Mimi”, Reece Hoffmann, Luke Hoffmann, and Lily Hoffmann.
A memorial service will be held Friday, January 23, 2026, at 11:00am at First Baptist Church of Orange Park, FL 1140 Kingsley Avenue Orange Park, FL 32073.
