Catherine “Cathy” Mary Huether, 61

Catherine “Cathy” Mary Huether, 61, of Orange Park, Florida, passed away on December 18, 2025. Born on August 17, 1964, in Lynn, Massachusetts, Cathy was truly small but mighty—with a great big personality and a smile that will be missed by all who knew her.

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Nancy Huether.

She is survived by her loving siblings: her sister, Susie Hatcher (David); and her brother, Billy Huether (Kim). She is also survived by her cherished nieces and nephews: Johnny Moore (Catherine), Josh Moore, Jacob Moore, Katherine Hines (John), Kristen Huether, William Huether, and Sarah Hoffman (Riley). Cathy also leaves behind two adored great-nieces, Caroline Hines and Addison Moore.

A dedicated student, Cathy graduated as valedictorian from Middleburg High School in 1982 and earned her degree from the University of North Florida in 1986. She then dedicated 26 years to Blue Cross Blue Shield, where she not only built a successful career but also formed lasting friendships. In her final years there, Cathy was joyfully preparing for retirement, looking forward to spending more time with her loved ones and pursuing her passions.

Cathy approached life with discipline and joy. She worked out religiously, loved reading, and took great pleasure in watching her favorite television shows, often describing them in impressive detail. She also had a deep love for the Georgia Bulldogs and the Jacksonville Jaguars and found great joy in watching their games. Above all else, she loved her family and friends deeply.

Cathy was a genuinely kind soul. She celebrated the joys of others wholeheartedly and carried deep concern for those facing difficult times. Her compassion, warmth, and thoughtfulness touched many lives, and she will be remembered for always caring—truly and sincerely—for those around her.

Cathy will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but her kindness, strength, and bright spirit will live on in all who loved her.
