William “Bill” Charles Hicks, 87

William “Bill” Charles Hicks, 87, of Melrose, FL passed away Thursday, November 6, 2025.  Bill was born in Shawmut, AL to the late Edward Hicks and Mavis Strother Hicks.  He moved to the north Florida area over 60 years ago after serving his country in the United States Air Force.  He attended Georgia State in Atlanta, GA before working for and retiring from State Farm Insurance Company, first as an agent and then as a fraud investigator.  Bill felt a call from his Lord and Savior to go back to school at Liberty University where he received his master’s degree and PhD.  This led to his second career as a counselor.  He had private practice for over 30 years and did custody evaluations.  He was a patient man who enjoyed helping others.  He was a great listener and was always learning and reading.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents.  He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Cynthia Hicks; two daughters, Emily Walker (Don) and Tracy Luscombe (Sam); one brother, Ted Hicks; two sisters, Susan McClelland and Nora Sims; as well as two grandchildren, Erica L. Davis and Christopher L. Davis.

A memorial service will be held Monday, November 17, 2025 at 11am at First Baptist Church of Middleburg with Ralph Estevez officiating.  Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to services at 10am.
