Janyce Faye Coussens, 81

Janyce Faye Coussens, 81, of Fleming Island, FL passed away Monday, October 27, 2025.  Born in Decatur, GA to the late Jimmy and Lillie Mae McClung, she spent much of her life in the greater Atlanta area.  Janyce moved to northeast Florida from Cumming, GA over 20 years ago to be closer to her grandchildren.  Janyce’s faith was most important to her, and she was very active in many churches, including Cumming First Methodist Church and more recently, Orange Park United Methodist Church.  While at Cumming First Methodist Church, Janyce organized a church-wide cookbook that was later sold to help fund ministries of the church.

Janyce was a wonderful cook and baker, entering numerous recipes into the Clay County Agricultural Fair and bringing home many blue ribbons.  She was an outgoing woman, talkative and friendly.  Strong-willed and organized, Janyce kept her family running smoothly and had everyone and everything in their place.  She loved her family deeply and was the best “Nanny” to her grandchildren.  She never missed a game and proudly cheered from the sidelines.

Janyce was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmy and Lillie McClung; two brothers, Luther McClung and Howard McClung; as well as her two sisters, Imogene Farguson and Joyce Fleming.  She is survived by her loving husband of over 60 years, William “Toby” Coussens, Jr.; two sons, Dane Coussens (Denise) and David Coussens (Christina); one daughter, Heather Yarnell (Eric); five grandchildren, Chase Coussens (Jessica), Hunter Coussens (Hannah), Avery Coussens, Kayla Brooks (Connor), and Hanna Coussens; two great-grandchildren, Nora and Ezra; as well as a large extended family.

A memorial service will be held Friday, November 7, 2025 at 1:00pm at Orange Park United Methodist Church.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made in Janyce’s memory to the Dementia Society of America, https://www.dementiasociety.org/donate.
