Michael Allen Songer, 82

Michael was suddenly and unexpectedly taken from us on June 9, 2025. He was born April 12, 1943, in Lafayette, Indiana to Hardy Ray and Evelyn Rose Songer. Growing up in several small towns in Indiana and graduating from Bicknell High School in 1961, Michael continued his education graduating from Vincennes University and Indiana University. He served for 6 years in the U.S. Air National Guard.

Michael married Linda Lou Brown on August 13, 1966, in Wabash, Indiana. They moved to Gainesville, Florida, in 1971 and settled in Orange Park in 1973 where they still reside. Michael is survived by his wife, Linda; son, Michael Jay Songer; daughter, Carina Lee Tudor and her husband Chris; grandchildren, Kenneth Edward Brown, Keaton Robert Tudor, and Kacey Lee Tudor; brother, Rodrick Songer and his wife Diane (Colorado); sister, Margaret Sherman and her husband Larry (South Carolina); and several nieces and nephews.

Michael was a CPA and served his career in various positions with the Internal Revenue Service. For the last 44 years he has owned and operated Songer’s Christmas Tree Farm in Middleburg. He enjoyed working on the farm and meeting and talking with people from throughout the area when selling Christmas trees. Michael was a founding member of the Florida Christmas Tree Association and served as the President of the organization for several years. He also was an active member of the Middleburg Garden Club.

Michael and Linda’s long and happy marriage lasted almost 59 years, and they were truly partners in nearly everything they did. Michael had a very close and loving relationship with his children and grandchildren, and he was so happy that they all remained in this area where he could see them often and share the busy activities of their lives. He and his family traveled extensively throughout the world and, with Linda, was on a vacation in Europe when he suddenly passed away in Belgrade, Serbia.

He will be forever missed by his loving family and many friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 20, 2025 at 11am in the chapel of Russell Haven of Rest with Jason Brown officiating.  Burial will follow in Russell Haven of Rest Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to funeral services at 10am.
